2019 State Runner-Ups

We ended our season as the State Runner ups. We had a great season full of highlights and we finished it off with our 1st team Trophy since 1989. We had some great performances and walked away with 8 state medalists-the most of any team at this years State Tournament. Kasten Grape became a State Champion and will be the next name added to our wall of champions! Avery McMeekin got his first state medal and he made it count as he earned a trip to the parade of champions and finished as a state runner up. Carter Kucera finished his career off with a win and came out in 3rd place. We had 3 wrestlers place 4th: Tanner Kobza, Blayze Standley, and Anthony DeAnda. Finally we had two wrestlers place 5th: Clay Cerny and Carson Zwingman.

Our season was one that will be remembered for a long time. We won another GNAC Championship, our 4th straight District Championship, the High Plains Invite, Norfolk Invite and also qualified 13 wrestlers for the state tournament! We had a couple wrestlers break school records and they were big ones. Carter Kucera will go down in history as the winningest wrestler ever with 186 wins. Carson Zwingman broke our career pin record with 118 pins. The class of 2019 will be one that is looked back with admiration for a long time as they definitely left a legacy! This group wanted to put Columbus back on the map and they did that. This group wanted to create a brotherhood and they did that. Congrats to our team for an amazing season.
