2024 State 3rd Place

Girls
Ella May Shevlin has become our first and only girls state medalist and it is an awesome story! She started wrestling as a junior and never stopped training from Nov 2022 until yesterday. The total amount of practices and matches she was able to cram into one offseason paid off by getting her all the way to the state semifinals! We are all so proud of her and happy that she achieved the goal just one year after setting the goal of winning one match! She has come so far. Danica Taylor went 1-2 in Omaha and was a 2X state qualifier. Senior Marissa Anderson was unable to get through the grueling 2 step process to qualify this year but this senior class will always be the ones that got wrestling going for our girls! Great job to these ladies and they are the true trailblazers that all the girls that wrestle in Columbus will follow!
Boys
Our boys finished in 3rd place and the tourney was capped off by Brenyn Delano and Mason Petersen becoming our 39th and 40th State Champions! It has been a long road for Brenyn and no one deserves it more than him. He has come close a couple times and to see him finish in style with a fun match like that makes us so proud! Mason turned one of the most talked about matchups into another great success story. To win state vs a 2x champ after being 3rd at districts is something I have not seen before. Jaeston Delano came up short in the finals but he is just a sophomore so we know he is looking to win a title the next couple of years. Senior Kaden Brownlow ended his career in 4th place to win his first medal and he won some hard fought battles to get there! Laitenn Braithwait and Tyler Zwingman both finished in 6th to win their first state medals.  Seniors Levi Cerny, Kasen Grape, John Bloomquist, and Marcus Beltran had some way too close matches to come up short of medals but they were some great role models and amazing team players. We will miss their presence in our room but they will leave the legacy of brotherhood behind them and hopefully we can maintain that attitude! Finally sophomores Carter Eisenmann and Jayce Nelson both gained some valuable experience in Omaha and now that they have been there before they will be ready to achieve their goals next year!
