Columbus finishes in 6th place at State, with 6 medals.

Our team continues to improve every single week and the state tournament was no different. We came into the tournament as underdogs and we proved that we are amongst the top teams in the state. We came home with 2 runner ups: Carson Zwingman at 170bs and Anthony DeAnda at 195lbs. They are both first time state medalists and will look for another trip to the finals next year. Placing 3rd place at 182lbs was Kasten Grape. Kasten qualified for state last year and earned his first state medal this year. We had 2 5th placers: Clay Cerny at 106lbs and Carter Kucera at 126lbs. Clay earned his first state medal and Carter his 3rd. Lastly we had another first time state medalist in Eddie Loredo at 220lbs.

Our other state qualifiers were: 113lbs Tanner Kobza, 120lbs Thad Baldwin, 145lbs Cade Fullner, 152lbs Avery McMeekin, 160lbs Blayze Standley, and 285lbs Tristan Colford.

Looking ahead we will have 12 returning state qualifiers and 6 returning state medalists next season! With another productive off season we can be a contender next year. Below is our team wearing the traditional robes that every Columbus wrestler has worn at the State Tournament for the last 47 years.
